Civil unions in the ACT have been an option for same sex couples in the past.

As of December 7th 2017, the Australian Federal Parliament has passed a bill making marriage equality legal.  Same sex couples will now be able to make the same public commitment of love for each other, enjoyed by all marrying couples.

So while the option to enter into a Civil Union still exists under ACT legislation, I am sure couples will want to take up the opportunity to marry instead.
