Civil unions in the ACT have been an option for same sex couples in the past.

On December 7th 2017, the Australian Federal Parliament passed a bill making marriage equality legal.  Same sex couples are now able to marry.

The option for an ACT Civil Union still exists but couples may prefer the opportunity to marry instead.
